WHY IS GRANITE THE MOST POPULAR
COUNTERTOP MATERIAL IN TORONTO?

Granite is a natural stone quarried for use in construction of countertops, paving stone, floor tiles and building veneer. It mainly comprises of feldspar, quartz and mica. It is a type of intrusive rock that crystallizes from magma that has cooled beneath the Earth’s surface under enormous pressure. This crystallization forms the coloured speckles for which the stone is known. The longer the magma has to cool, the bigger the grains or speckles.

Granite comes second to diamond in hardness, making it one of the best countertop materials. It is durable and easy to maintain when sealed properly. The sealant also makes the countertop non-porous so it doesn’t harbour bacteria, making it a healthy option too. Additionally, it’s heat resistant and will last many years, making it a worthy investment.

At MaxSpace Stone Works Inc., we provide granite countertops in Toronto that accentuate your living space with their unique veining patterns and wide range of colours. HOW TO MAINTAIN GRANITE COUNTERTOPS?

Homeowners in Toronto have a wide range of options when it comes to kitchen countertop materials, but granite remains one of the most popular. It’s a durable natural stone that serves as a workspace and remains attractive for a long time. In addition to its gorgeous and distinctive appearance, being a non-porous material it is easy to maintain. Granite resists heat, stains and scratches, and repairs are seldom required.

Use a microfiber cloth for basic cleaning, but use a soft wet cloth for best results when dealing with spills. To ensure its shine, wipe your countertop with a stone cleaner and damp cloth once a week. Avoid using harsh chemicals as these can cause damage.

HOW MUCH DO GRANITE COUNTERTOPS IN TORONTO COST?

Are you considering a granite countertop for your Toronto kitchen but don’t know if it will fit your budget? You should know that there are many factors that determine how much it will cost. For instance, a standard granite kitchen countertop is 1 ½ inches thick, but the thicker the slab you have your eye on, the more it will cost. Additionally, a seamless slab will be more expensive than one made by joining multiple pieces together. There are different grades of natural stone available, based on their appearance, strength and durability.

This means that the higher the grade you choose, the more it will cost. You can also choose from a variety of basic edge profiles such as bevel, eased and bullnose. If you’re looking for a custom edge, you might have to spend a hefty amount. As a provider of granite countertops in Toronto, MaxSpace Stone Works Inc. carries an extensive collection of styles to fit any budget. DIFFERENT USES OF
GRANITE COUNTERTOPS

KITCHEN GRANITE COUNTERTOPS

Granite is one of the oldest and most naturally beautiful rocks available and is rapidly gaining in popularity due to its durability and aesthetic appeal. It’s commonly used in homes as kitchen countertops, bathroom vanities and fireplace surrounds. It can also be used in other areas to add a unique element and be a statement piece. Granite is one of the first choices for homeowners looking for kitchen countertops, mainly due to its heat-resistant qualities which make it ideal for busy kitchens.

As with the kitchen, granite performs well when used as bathroom vanity tops. The material is resistant to water and mould and doesn’t harbour bacteria. Being a tough material, it stands up well to the rigours of the bathroom, which is one of the most used rooms in any home. Granite bathroom vanity tops look great in both small and large bathrooms and bring a sense of elegance to your home.

We are happy to answer any Granite countertop questions you may have

Do I need to seal my granite countertop?

It doesn’t need to be sealed regularly.

Granite is generally water-resistant and doesn’t require sealing. However, there are certain rare types of this natural stone that are porous and would be safer to seal. Ideally this should be done twice a year, but ask your granite countertop provider to suggest the best possible methods to maintain the worktop.

How do I know that my countertop requires sealing?

Try the water test to find out if you need to seal your granite countertop.

The best way to find out if your kitchen countertop needs to be sealed is to pour a little water on a small area. If the surface absorbs it, it’s a porous slab and will need to be sealed. However, if the water sits on the surface for a long time, there’s no need.

Can my granite countertop be scratched?

It is scratch resistant but not completely scratch proof.

Like marble, another natural stone, granite can sustain scratches, although it’s highly scratch resistant. So, always use chopping boards instead of cutting directly on the surface.

What is a granite colour chart?

It’s a small booklet with sample tiles from bigger slabs.

When you visit a granite countertop showroom, you will be handed a small booklet. The small pieces of stone in these booklets comprise the granite colour chart. They can be used to compare different patterns and colours.

Can my granite countertop be repaired if damaged?

Yes. Damaged granite countertops can be repaired.

Granite countertops are hard to damage. However, if you happen to damage the material, there are ways to fix it. An etch or crack can be sealed using a mix of epoxy with granite. Our experts are experienced at handling such situations and will take care of your damaged countertop.
