Caesar stone Countertops Installation Mistakes (And How to Avoid Them)

Here are some common mistakes that may occur either before or during the installation of your Caesarstone countertop.

  1.  Installing Your Backsplash First: Always install your backsplash after your engineered quartz countertop. Otherwise, it becomes difficult to install the countertop which can potentially damage the backsplash.
  1. Not Using Proper Tools: Use appropriate tools and devices to install your countertop correctly. For example, secure the countertop by using the correct screws on the cabinet frame. Often these countertops have special corner blocks where the screws may be driven in.
  1. Incorrect Measurement: Your installers will correctly measure your kitchen area and the size of your countertop prior to installation to ensure its proper fit. This is another reason to hire professionals.
  1. Ignoring the Edge Style of the Countertops: Never ignore the edge style of your Caesarstone countertop. For better safety, choose countertops with square edges because they may be installed in any type of kitchen.
  1. Thinking Countertops Are Easy to Lift : These countertops are heavy, so proper handling is required to avoid them slipping and getting damaged. Never try to lift them on your own. Instead, have your installers do it to avoid breaking them or yourself!
  1. Incorrect Information about the Installation Cost: Installing a high-end Caesarstone countertop can cost approximately $200 per square foot. They are more durable and heavier than other kitchen countertops. So, even if the installation costs a bit more, they are worth investing in.

Maintenance Tips for Caesarstone Countertops After Installation

Caesarstone countertops are a luxurious and nonporous option that allows you to prepare meals and conduct other regular tasks without worrying much about its maintenance. All you need is to follow a few vital tips to clean the surface and keep it looking new all the time.

  1. Handle the Surface Carefully: For daily cleaning, wipe the surface with a wet cloth and warm, foamy water. To preserve its lustre, use a mild detergent or high-quality spray. You may then use a soft cloth or paper towel to clean the surface. Let it air dry. For a constant shine, wipe the countertop in a wide circular motion. Unlike other natural stone countertops such as marble or granite, this stone surface does not have to be sealed regularly for protection against mould, mildew, or stains.
  1. Remove Stubborn Stains: Eco-friendly products such as vinegar, soy sauce, curry, turmeric powder, and food colouring may be used for removing hard stains from this countertop surface. Add a cleanser with oxalic acid and a non-abrasive sponge and then wipe the surface gently. Don’t forget to rinse and wipe until it dries. For tougher stains, a soft cloth and alcohol will work, or try a small amount of household bleach for lighter-coloured surfaces. Another option is to use a little nail polish remover and then clean and dry it.
  1. Don’t Be Stupid: Although Caesarstone countertops are extremely strong and durable, they are not indestructible. Never use abrasive sponges and avoid using the following products directly on their surface:
  • Harmful Cleaners: Harsh cleaners such as grill and toilet cleaners, dishwasher polishing agents, paint removers, and strippers may damage your countertop’s sheen. Avoid chemicals such as trichlorethane or methylene chlorides.
  • Hot Pots and Pans:  Although Caesarstone quartz is heat resistant, it is recommended that you not place extremely hot oven trays, pots, or pans directly on its surface.  Always use a hot pad or trivet to avoid surface damage from sudden or rapid temperature changes.
  • Sharp Objects: Never use sharp objects or knives without a cutting board as a safety measure.
